This Society is a member of The Arts Society (TAS), of which there are now over 90,000 members and 338 societies in the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Our Society was formed in 2003 by four enterprising ladies; Sue Burland; Ann Staveley; Janey Burland; and Jo Connell and is registered as a charity, number 1105490.  We are a very friendly group with a membership of around 230.  We meet on the second Monday of the month from October to July.  The speakers are mainly drawn from a directory maintained by TAS UK, and they are all experts in their own special fields of decorative and fine arts.  In addition to our monthly meetings, we organize study days, outings to historic houses, art galleries and places of special interest.  We also include evenings to the theatre, and sometimes longer trips to places of interest further afield either at home or abroad.  Details of the calendar of events can be found within these web pages.

This Society is a member of TAS East Anglia Group, and is one of twenty-six societies whose total membership exceeds 6,000.  You are able to read more about those societies under the heading ‘Useful Links’.

Our aims are to give our members an opportunity to learn more about the decorative and fine arts that surround us, and in particular to broaden our knowledge and enjoyment of them.  We have a very active Young Arts programme in order to promote the arts and music at local primary school level, and are regularly making funds available to that end.
